Better Things: Pamela Adlon rules

There are very few programs on Tv that really are complete originals on every level. Better Things is one of them, the first in many years where, at the end of the show, you are left wondering if you just watched something that really happened or someone actually wrote it. The show is being advertised as a Louis C.K., and if he helped breath life into this small television miracle he deserves credits but it sounds and feels like a Pamela Adlon show.

Kayak surf: How I discovered a life away from the camera.

In 2013 I discovered something that has changed my life: Surf kayaking. It might be the midlife crisis, an excuse to get out of the house or just getting bored with being behind the camera. Whatever it was: After three decades of shooting other people doing cool things, it was time for my own adventures. I had bought an inflatable kayak, hoping it would help rescue my deflated relationship. But paddling canals and little mosquito invested waters just didn’t do the trick. So I tried to find another way to make it a bit more exciting: take the big inflatable to the sea!

RX10 IV: Lord of the Zoom

Shooting a little surf impression with the RX10 IV.

So this is the 4K on factory default, no tweaking and both AF and white balance on full auto. All things considering: this is shot in pretty windy conditions without a tripod and despite some jittering even at 600mm (220mm real lens size) 35mm equivalent the image is usable.

The story behind finding a story: Philip Bloom in Brussels

It sounds like a good idea: Go to Brussels for a weekend, meet like minded people, talk about film making. And because it is Brussels this will include nice food and and a lovely city. Haroun from Filmmakers Corner had organised a workshop in Brussels with Philip Bloom.

Commander Hadfield does triple cool: First music video from space!

He posted some of the coolest tweets (@Cmdr_Hadfield) from the International Space station, recorded the first song in space, but today (May12 2013) he put up the first music video ever shot in space: a cover of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity.” He tweeted: “With deference to the genius of David Bowie, here’s Space Oddity, recorded on Station. A last glimpse of the World.” You can only do one first...

Zachary Quinto vs. Leonard Nimoy: “The Challenge”

Zachary Quinto vs. Leonard Nimoy: “The Challenge” a funny commercial especially for Star Trek fans. It even has Leonard Nimoy sing his world famous Bilbo Baggins song! For the filmmakers: notice the lens flair, music and the style difference between the two cars.     Tnx to @Gertkracht for the...

Shows you might enjoy

This is a list of TV Shows I think people will enjoy, it is old and new stuff and not really ranked by any other order then what I remember. Community Now for some zany clever comedy: community! It is well written, the ensemble cast is really funny together and it is as clever as the good old-fashioned Moonshining. They don’t mind breaking any “rules” and use whatever style, including claymation to spoof their own...

Iron Man III: Lethal Iron Weapon Man

Iron Man part 3, I enjoyed this one, really enjoyed it. Unlike part 2 it does not run away from itself. Because I went to see it completely uninformed, the end credits revealed why: Shane black directed it and was one of the writers. He is the guy who wrote the original screenplay for Lethal Weapon and had his excellent directorial debut with “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” starring Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer. Even though James Bond was busy doing hard action while making puns, people credit Shane Black for the funny buddy genre.
