Summer in October: HFR with the RX10IV

Time is magic? Slowing down or speeding up of time has always been something magical and for a long time, it was only available in expensive cameras. Or something tourists like to experiment with their health in Amsterdam, but I’m told that’s more being like totally mellow man like time doesn’t matter and nobody records anything. Back in 2009, I shot my first slow-motion short, back then we only had 720P but slowing...

Sunset with the RX10IV: AuroraHDR 2018 and Adobe Camera raw.

Adobe has just released an update to camera raw so now it is possible to open the RX10IV raw files. Previously it was only AuroraHDR 2018 that would read them, but this did give me strange lens fault: edges of the sensor and all that unwanted stuff. The first shots in this little gallery are done with Aurora HDR 2018, the second part is done with Adobe camera raw, they are extremely over-processed just to see what happens. Please let...

RX10 IV: Set phase detection on stun

Years ago I bought the original RX100, replacing the Lumix LX3, a very nice little camera but it had terrible video. Back then the RX100 was still the great undiscovered ‘take anywhere’ camera. Perfect for hiking up a mountain as you can see from this picture on the left. Not the prettiest colors in the world, but excellent dynamic range, which is why it makes for a great BW shot.

Colourful animals

There is something about walking in nature and looking and the wild animals. Taking pictures with the Sony A7RII and the Canon 100-400 with the metabones adapter works well for nature as long as it’s slow moving and I have time to focus manually. It is not too heavy when you use a monopod and it gets you close enough to shoot some nice...

Spontaneous portraits

A small collection of spontaneous portraits I have shot over the years with a variety of cameras. From the Olympus TG4, RX100, Canon 5DIII, to the Sony A6500 and A7RII. Using crazy lenses like the Nikkor 55mm F1.2, Canon 100mm F2.8 Macro or just your basic 70-200mm...

A7RII Canon 100-400mm: Wind Surf

It can get a little crazy here down the coast when the storms hit. Most people hide, but it also brings out the wind and kite surfers.  The moment you see the windsurfers out in force you know the wind is going to blow hard!  Shot with the A7RII, Metabones IV adapter and the Canon 100-400, shot at Scheveningen south beach during and after big...
